Tanya’s Work

Lovers of dichotomy, delicacy and design are drawn to the work of self-taught encaustic artist and fine painter Tanya Kirouac. The images, drawn most often from nature, are at once real and dream-like. What is Encaustic?

From the greek enkaustikos which means "to heat" or "to burn". Encaustic is the name for both, a medium of pigmented wax, and the process involving heat, by which the medium is applied and secured.
